I recently cancelled DishNetwork as I am tired of paying for too many channels that I never watch. I decided it was cheaper to go back to basic cable and not bother with renting a receiver.
Last week, while installing a second coax line to the back of the family room TV, the tech found some Cat 5 cable that I thought was never installed. It irritated the hell out of me having network cables in the kitchen and in the bar, but not anywhere near the TV. This Cat5 cable was here, but I never looked for it in that particular outlet because that was one was done by the builders.
So after finding this cable I went to Home Depot and bought some connectors.
So I connected my Playstation 3 to my router which is connected to my D-Link DNS 323. I go into the setting on the 323 and specify a folder for video. This is the part I had been missing. Apparently the PS3 won’t see anything if there are no videos in the root folder or if you don’t specify a folder with videos in it.
Now my PS3 can see it. I download some shows that I missed the other night and try it out. It does work. It is kind of hit and miss with some stuff as it’s encoded in something other than Divx or MPEG. But for the most part the quality is good depending on the source.
I missed Eli Stone the other night. I start playing that and when it gets to the gospel part, Maggie gets up and leaves. As soon as the song is over, she comes back in. I rewind to that part and she leaves again.
I can’t tell if she doesn’t like gospel or if she doesn’t like George Michael.
