| Does the Universe Hate Clowns? |

I am still pretty freaked out by the death of Heath Ledger. I woke up this morning thinking about an article I had read on Digg. The article states that kids everywhere universally hate clowns. But that got me to thinking, does the universe itself hate clowns as well? Is there some karmic connection between Heath Ledger and Brandon Lee? They both wore white face in roles that would have undoubtedly made their careers skyrocket had they lived. And they both died untimely tragic deaths.
The autopsy will be performed today. I'm hoping for the sake of his daughter that they find that he didn't overdose. I hope they find that he barely had any prescription drugs in his system, so low that he shouldn't even be dead and it was a bad unforeseen reaction to the medication. Not to sound chauvanistic, but taking pills is typically a female way to commit suicide and mostly it's a cry for help not an actual deliberate act of suicide. Personally, I had no real feelings toward clowns until my senior year of high school. I was spending the night over at a friends house and I slept in his sister's room as she was off at college. Anyhow, she collected dolls, specifically, french clowns. She had them all over the room mounted on the walls. I woke up the following morning dreaming that one of the clowns had grown to human size and was choking me. I woke up struggling to breathe. Why would I dream that? This was way before 'Chucky' or any of those other movies came out. The only thing I would have seen that would remind me of that would be Trilogy of Terror which was in the early seventies and I finished high school in the late eighties. I think it could be my Filipino upbringing. I grew up in a house with a lot of superstitions. Many of these superstitions defied logic, as if regular superstions are totally logical. The weirdest one off the top of my head was that if a pregnant woman pointed at a rainbow, the kid would be born without thumbs. I'm not really sure if these were genuine superstitions or the kind of things my grandmother made up to keep her kids in line, but I can't image why it would be bad to point at a rainbow. I also wonder if the choking thing isn't a common theme in dreams. A few years ago I had surgery to fix my deviated septum and now I can breathe easier in my sleep. Until then, I always had trouble breathing. But I knew someone who had a dream that they were being choked by the devil. This probably speaks more towards their lifestyle rather than clowns in general. So if clowns have been with us since Ancient Egypt and the Middle Ages, what is their exact origin? It's been stated that the clown is symbolic of a lack of control and chaos. Other texts refer to him as the wise fool. I found a passage that said 'he[the clown] plays with the Laws of the Universe and is sometimes his own worst enemy.' So the clown is a literary device that enables us the question the status quo, not merely accept it. So if the Joker is representative of random chaos, then Batman must be the opposite representing order. So is the Joker/Clown actually a person or the embodiment for a time of a force that 'rocks the boat' so to speak. And is there enough sentient intelligence of the Universe to want to counteract this disruptive force? For people who believe in 'Intelligent Design' you must also concede that it's not necessarily 'God' that is the designer. In any case, maybe there is an inherent desire in all of us to naturally seek out order. On some primal level, the clown naturally evokes discomfort. I came up with this clown/universe relationship last night as I dreamt. To find other websites that support that relationship is trippy. However, the fact that Jack Nicholson is still alive totally refutes my supposition. Still clowns freak me out.
