I was on a jury several years ago. The case was a man with a knife had gotten into his car, drove to another man’s house and stabbed him on his front lawn. He claimed he stabbed him in self-defense.

In many ways, I feel like Iraq is a similar situation. We went over there and messed with people who were really no threat to us and called it ‘defending our country.’ I don’t know how many people realize that Iraq did not have anything to do with 9/11. You constantly read these, ‘Kill all them towelheads!’ type comments and you just have to shake your head.

I would like for our troops to leave Iraq and come home. However, I have lost all confidence in our electoral system. I really don’t think my vote will make a difference when it comes to the general election. What with the Electoral College and super delegates and all the other convoluted processes. Unreliable and easily tampered with Diebold voting machines guarded by the church lady inspire zero confidence. Or storing ballots in rooms secured with paper tape (not even duct tape!) What kind of country to do we live in where American Idol votes are tallied and more believable?

In spite of Obama being far more popular than Hilary Clinton, they’re pretty close in delegates. It is the delegates that will decide the Democratic nominee. I predict that Hilary will pull some shenanigans and secure the nomination. I also predict that all her public appearances after that point will be young people chanting ‘Bullshit! Bullshit!’

It seems that the mainstream media will still decide for us who will be the next leader.

If Obama does get the nomination, I think he will decimate McCain. After all, McCain isn’t any different than having Bush in office other than the fact we know he is ignorant of economics and a warmonger BEFORE he gets into office.

I’m wondering who will be the Republican nominee. If it boils down to McCain vs. Huckabee vs. Paul, I’m hoping that Paul stays in it long enough, or at least outlasts Huckabee. I’m hoping it boils down to Paul vs. McCain.

If it’s Paul vs. Obama, I will have to give more serious thought as to who I will vote for. If it’s Obama vs. McCain, I will go for Obama. If it’s Clinton vs. Paul, I will vote for Paul.

If it’s Clinton vs. McCain, it’s like trying to decide which foot you’re going to shoot. I won’t bother voting in that case because I think we’re fucked either way.

We live in a world where 14 day old babies die in airports because no one has common sense to realize he’s not a terrorist. Yet when a man falsely accuses a romantic rival of being a terrorist, we know for sure he’s lying. Detaining a child with the same name as a terrorist and putting him on a no-fly list is clearly ignorant, but no one wants to step up and say, “This is dumb.” If ‘John Smith’ was the no-fly list, then no one would even question that.

We live in a world where the TSA makes women drink their own breast milk to prove it’s not anthrax. We live in a world, where you can get tasered for bringing Sprite into a secure area. The terrorists have won because we are NOW AFRAID OF WATER.

I think if Obama or Paul were in office, some of these incredible levels of stupidity will subside. If McCain or Clinton are in office, they will keep everything status quo for fear of rocking the boat.

Why is it that I can press a button on Digg, or reddit, or Stumble and see it actually work? Why do I feel I can trust my digg vote more than any pertaining to the elections? Why is it that I know that my opinion on a jury will be heard?
Yet why is it that I feel that my vote for the next President, arguably the most important voting power that I supposedly have, will disappear like a fart in the wind?
