I found this video to be rather funny. I'm not sure if it was staged. I sure hope that in the future, I won't have to deal with this.
The father had a valid reaction. It reminds me that in the past we had heroes like Einstein, Arthur MIller, Joe DiMaggio, etc., people you could look up to and aspire to be like.
What do the kids nowadays have to look up to? Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Pacman Jones?
Idiocracy is around the corner.
Bill Gates, although incredibly wealthy, is looked at by many to be one of the most despised men because of Microsoft and Vista. Google on the other hand is looked at as being cool and their leadership is far less visible.
Steve Jobs is looked at as cool, but I would say that there aren't many people who want to BE Steve Jobs in the sense that he built Apple out of his garage. Kids seem to rather play guitar badly in their garage than try to invent something.
Where is the Thomas Edison or the Ben Franklin of our generation? Are they all in line for American Idol? Do the kids have any heroes that their parents would encourage?
I think about that girl who commited suicide because of negative comments on her MySpace page. I wonder if we are raising the next generation to be emotionally and physically weak. The ride at Disneyland, "It's a Small World" has to be retrofitted so that the seats will accomodate the patrons. Apparently people were thinner back in the 60's and the fat people of today simply won't fit into those seats.
With my other site, visualfulfillment.com, the joomla installation got screwed up along the way. I have been trying to get it back up and running for the past three days.
I have determined that somehow it is messed up in the index.php as the base index file that comes with the template is okay.
So I will get that one working again and slowly eliminate the modules. I will remove commenting and some other crap that I don't use.
Beyond that, I'm done messing with it. I'm going to switch over to a different CMS for that site when the quarter begins again.
Once it's all up and running, I'll be putting more interersting content on my blogs.
I got an email from tech support. I was told that one of my scripts was maxing out CPU resources on one of my other sites.
The solution I implemented was to change the template and cut back on some of the scripts. For example, I like the Amazon ad script, but it really doesn't seem to be selling at all. Either that or all my readers are broke ass.
In any event, I like this hosting company. I was close to leaving, but I can't think of another service that offers the same amount of convenience and services for such a reasonable price. You can't beat unlimited websites. I don't have the traffic yet or the need to justify a private server.
So hopefully this will be the end of all these issues. I also appreciate the fact that they maintain a separate website that updates the status of their issues. So you can see how happy or how dissatisfied the customers are.
You don't get that kind of honesty from too many businesses.
