Normally, when I talk to a client about their identity, I like to get some feedback about what they want to say about themselves. All I know is that when I was working on the identity of this server, I wanted to communicate the idea of high traffic. So the first thought that came to mind was traffic as in cars and I decided to use a tire texture. I set up my car to run over a piece of 18 x 24 paper and get the texture. The first try gave me too much of the pavers and not enough of the tire. So the second tryI flipped the paper over and set it up in the street. I put down a piece of rebar to hold d9own the paper as it was windy. The texture was successful and I scanned it.

One of the reasons I decided to create this server was because traffic to the URLs which are based my name has been pretty sparse. My name is 'Sheff' and my sites are Sheff.com and SheffieldAbella.com. So here is the problem. When people think of art, they don't think of my name. When pronounced audibly, sheff.com sounds like a cooking website, not an artist's website. And if I try to give someone my full name as my website, invariably, they spell it dead wrong. So as a brand, my name is not yet successful.
So as my other URL name for the business is PixelColada.com. which is clever, but non-digital artists have no idea what a pixel is and it is also hard to spell.
So since I want more traffic I decided to name the site You'reKillingMyServer dot com. I also registered YourKillingMyServer dot com because there are so many diggers who don't know the difference between 'You're' and 'Your.'
Now that I have a name that is easy to remember, I now need to work on creating a look that is just as memorable. The one thing I noticed about many blogger's web pages is that they either have very simple or very boring graphics. I don't want this site to be 'corporate' but at some point I will tone it down. It mainly has this look so that it will stand out and be memorable. All the graphics are very small and shouldn't be too distracting from the content.
I also decided against using Wordpress. I have seen too many Wordpress sites go down from too many diggs.
